​Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Atevenson was born on November 13, 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland. During his childhood he would spend his holidays with his grandfather. His grandfather would tell him about stories and stuff from his life. Robert spent most of his winters as a child in bed because he was prone to getting sick. He entered college in 1867. He started out in lighthouse engineering but dropped out of that and went into a law school. He acquired a law degree at the age of 25. He later married to the woman named Fanny Osbourne in May of 1880. His father died in the year 1887. Robert died on December 3, 1894 from a disease called celebral hemorrhage in American Samoa.

Poetry Review

The first poem I am going to tell you about is Where Go the Boats?. The poem tells of a story about a race that happened between little boats that are sailing down a river. It also vividly describes the scenery around the little river. This poem has no literary device and the rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH. The theme of the poem was that boat races can be a very good experience for the people in the races. The second poem I read was About the Sheltered Garden Ground. The rhyme scheme of this poem is ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK. It is a poem about someone's struggles in their life and it is an awesome poem that I would reccomend reading. The third poem I read was The Cow. The poem descirbes the daily duty of the cows on a farm. It also tells the reader of the struggles it does just to give us our milk. The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABAB CDCD EFEF. The poem did not use any form of literary devices. The theme of the poem is that we take all of our stuff for granted and we should be thankful for the stuff that we have and not be so ignorant of it.

Famous Works

Some of his most famous works were Kidnapped in 1886, Treasure Island in 1883, and A Child's Garden of Verse in 1885.
